KR Actors is one of New Zealand’s most established and well recognised acting agencies. Launched by Kathryn Rawlings in 1992, the agency has been providing skilled and experienced actors for film, television, theatre - and now online content - for over 30 years. Kathryn and senior agents, Ascia Maybury and Cole Jenkins carry between them a diverse range of skills and a unique understanding of what it takes to be a jobbing actor. All three are drama school graduates, beginning their careers as actors. The agency is a founding member of the Actors Agents Association of New Zealand, whose aims include providing a defined forum for agents to work for the benefit of actors and the good of the industry. KR Actors is an agency that supports and uplifts actors, with manaakitanga at the heart of its core values. We pride ourselves on having a personal relationship and open communication with our clients.
Kathryn worked extensively as an actor in theatre, television, film and radio before opening the agency in 1992. She has also run a variety of businesses. Away from the office Kathryn is a keen and experienced horsewoman.
Ascia has been working for KR Actors since 2003 and has been an agent for over 15 years. An actor herself, she understands how tough this industry is on performers. Ascia holds manaakitanga at the core of her values. To be able to uplift an actor's mana and hold them with support and care is paramount to being an agent. Ascia is also on the board and a whānau member at the newly established Te Pou Theatre. It is a great honour to represent actors and she is eternally grateful to be part of the KR Actors whānau.
Cole began his career as an actor, writer and creator. He started working for KR Actors in 2014 and became an agent under the guidance of Kathryn and Ascia in 2018. Cole prides himself in supporting the wellbeing of actors and strives to make sure they feel seen, heard, held and uplifted. He has also taken the Pride Pledge, an initiative to increase visibility, inclusion and safety for LGBTQIA+ people in our community.
